Learn more about my story…
I am a lifelong learner. I believe education is about who we teach, not just about what we teach. I am passionate about culture, relationships, and learning from each other. I have served as an educator in an array of K-12 roles for over fifteen years, including classroom teacher, literacy specialist, mentor, supervisor, and coordinator. Currently, I serve as a central office administrator and remote learning principal on Long Island, New York. I am also a doctoral student in the Ed.D. Educational Administration and Supervision program at St. John’s University
I believe in the power of being a connected educator. As educators, we are all in this together! I am a co-founder and co-moderator of the #Read2Lead twitter chat and series panelist on the #MentorRoundTable webinar series. I am honored to be a member of the EdCamp Long Island planning team. I grew up in Wantagh, New York. My parents still live in the same house I grew up in. We recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary…and they’re more in love now than ever. My parents have always modeled for me what hard work looks like and how to truly give to others. I have an older sister, who I am lucky enough to call my friend. She has the most amazing two daughters who I can’t get enough of!
My family and I live in Babylon, New York. I always said I would never marry someone in the same field…then I fell in love with Bob, a third grade teacher. He’s so passionate about his students and has the gift to truly understand them. I call him the ‘kid whisperer.’ Being married to a fellow educator pushes me to see things from all sides more clearly. Our debates are real! I’m so grateful for his perspective and how he helps me to be the best version of myself.
I have three amazing bonus children. Liam is 19. I’m so proud of his selfless decision to serve in the Navy. He lives on base in Great Lakes, Illinois. Ava is 16. She models exactly what it means to always think about others. Ava has an incredibly thoughtful heart. Riley is 14. Her energy and passion for life radiates from her. She is fearless! Charlie is our family dog. Charlie was rescued from an abusive home and reminds us every day how to love unconditionally.
